Personally, this is pretty shit and another poor generic excuse for modern metalcore. [2]

Yeah this sounds like every other unoriginal cookiecuttercore band that spends more time making sure their sound fits the status quo than playing with any actual emotion. Seriously this is like... Linkin-Park-having-an-orgy-with-Devil-Wears-Prada-bad

Pretty much is a more mainstream version of their previous records, the lyrics are pretty bad. This isn't terrible, some catchy moments, but nowhere near their other records.

We get it. You don't like the record. You seem to be stuck in some sort of loop of futility.

I just don't understand why this is being so highly praised, it's really fucking boring

Nah the consensus is really positive. As for why, just check out any review of this on the internet Steak. Music isn't objective and you're just in the minority.

idk, from what I've read I though this was considered their worst LP (so in a sense not that positive). Regardless, still pretty positive. And for sure, musical subjectivity is the truth of it

I realize I'm in the minority, I just don't get why. This doesn't hold a candle to anything else that they've done, yet everybody is holding it on such a high pedestal. His vocals are more monotonous, the guitars aren't fun at all, drums lack any sort of punch, no good piano like they used to have, there's nothing of substance here

I would agree that its their worst release, and I accept its flaws, but I kind of got what I expected from them with a bit of extra cheese

"I just don't understand why this is being so highly praised, it's really fucking boring"

This isn't boring at all though, the riffing in Steal the Sun? The infectious anthems in "Silence Speaks" and "Hurricane"? This is a wonderful album. Lyrics are pretty cheesy yeah, but this is still super fun.
