I laughed when I opened Sputnik and saw this freaking lip again haha. Didn't think there would be such a beautiful album behind it though, up until like two weeks ago, that is

It reminds me of Kveikur in places. Wouldn't say it sounds that similar though, although both have a rather minimalistic and atmospheric sound.

Haha yeah that cover made me think it was going to sound like something Zomby would release. Not that that is a bad thing, just way different to expectations. Album is solid af though.

Yeah, the one problem I have with it is a lot of the tracks sounding like overlong intros rather than songs (although those overlong intros are really good), so I feel they could have felt more fleshed-out and "complete" before they end. It has a very engaging overall atmosphere though and the best moments are really something (like Reverie or Desafío)

I actually like that about a lot of tracks here. Makes for a more dreamy vibe overall which is digs all around.

I see what you mean and it doesn't really bother me that much for the album as a whole ... I just can't help but think that one or two more tracks of the caliber of the mentioned one's would have helped loosen the album up a bit and make it flow better

Perhaps, I guess it depends on what you're looking for. I usually think this type of music benefits from slow dynamics and unconventional song structures, but that's just me. Reminds me that I gotta jam this again soon.

Not that I hate his vocals or anything, but I think I like Mutant more than this. They're pretty different though.

Listened to Mutant once, hated it. I understand though that it is an album that wants to challenge the listener with its weirdness, so I'm not going to pin down a reliable opinion for it just yet, but I don't have much hope. I felt it was mostly just very annoying, immense production or not. It's vastly different from this though, yes. Pretty aggressive and abrasive, while this is not nearly as rhythm based and feels much more human due to the vocals.
