"well if it's fucking shit for the first 2 minutes and it's only 7 minutes long what else is there to listen to?"
Just the awesome vocals and kickass guitar harmonies. Metallica also have a bad habit of doing overly long intros to songs, especially on this album so I think judging an entire song after 2 minutes is foolish. But then it's foolish in general anyway, but oh well some people have no patience and are too busy to listen to music properly so fuck em.

The guitar harmony bit that comes in at about the 4 minute mark on bone and the delivery of the lyrics after that with Lars coming in with double bass has to go down as one of the best Metallica moments ever.

James Hetfeld's a pretty uninteresting vocalist and their guitar parts for me have always just kinda felt like "I've heard better". The only song of theirs that's ever really stuck with me at all is One, I'll give them that song

Halo On Fire is good, so is Dream No More.
Disagree on Spit Out The Bone, track is weak imo. That vid is the lolz tho.

This is pretty great tbh.
Nice to hear Metallica having fun again, there's a solid energy throughout this that's infectious.

What about a song like Orion? All of the guitar work in that song is amazing.
Hetfield can be a bit one dimensional as a vocalist but with this album the vocals are probably the strongest part of the album.

Btw how can you not think Metallica's riffs are awesome? Hetfield is a god damn riff machine.

they just don't really stick with me. There are just other guitarist's whose riffs I enjoy far more. It's just me, I'm not really sure it's anything to do with the riffs themselves.
Master of Puppets actually does have the laziest riff of all time though, they just happened to put it in a song first

I actually think MOP is one of the most overrated songs they've ever done. If I was to pick one of the best riffs from that album it would be something like the riff at 3:15 in Damage Inc.

Hetfield knows his way around a riff for sure.

Some of the instrumental passages on MOP are incredible, that was my favourite Metallica song for a long time.
Now it's 'Blakened' which is the ultimate representation of their style to my ears

Dream no more and Spit out the bone are really good. And there is one song with a reeaaallyyy sludgy refrain, was that Dream no more or another one?

Title track, Dream No More, Moth Into Flame, Spit Out the Bone, Now That We're Dead and ManUNkind all rule.
Also, I'm liking Atlas Rise! a lot more in the tracklisting.
