Anyone else here think this or is this statement and the 4.5 average just the initial hype that's gonna die in a week? Cause I have a hard time seeing a bunch of veterans top Calculating Infinity and so far this sounds like a continuation of the previous album.

So I remember before they started really working on this Greg was saying the last 4 albums were all refinements on the same formula and they were going to change it up in a big way with this one. I suspect they could find a new sound that retained their identity so they called it quits after doing one final refinement. But it's a pretty glorious way to go. Much better than the last record, which didn't do much for me aside from a few tracks.
The last two tracks haven't clicked with me yet, though. Everyone is gushing over them here but the string section in Nothing to Forget is cheesy as hell and Dissociation has this kind of stereotypical autotuned pop thing going on over some pretty awesome accompaniment and it's an odd juxtaposition. I could see it clicking eventually, though.

I kinda feel like at this point I should swap my ratings for Russian Circles with this. As damn near perfect as Guidance was and still is for me, this is just superior.
And yet, with 2016 being the year it has been, I still can't guarantee that it's gonna be my AotY.
Fucked up times. In the best way.
