mess zingers have lost their luster. they're real bad on this one. also swan's zingers on happiness were great, if not in quantity than in quality

@rowan sorry I haven't had any sleep and didn't see their list and wrongly assumed you were talking to me

mess will forever be 15 years old it's unfortunate. time for him to grow up

it's a bummer because his screams are better now than they've ever been

opinions I guess. I did dig Swan's harsh a lot too, would have liked more of it. I enjoy pico de gallo. also great lines in Frozen One, Winner, and Philosopher King imo. Funny enough I'm more into his lyrics than most other bands that try to be legitimately conceptual.
Petting Zoo Justice while heavy and dope as fuck is a bit of a lyrical dud tho.

@toomanyfriends huh I agree with Mess having improved as a screamer..... I guess we don't disagree on everything after all

i guess i just miss the experimentation the most. before they would throw you for a loop with like, don't tell dave or blue dream. now it's just like "here's an out of place flute solo and a drake reference. we're so goofy!" that and the lyrics are bad.
wow i've made like a ton of posts in here trying to articulate why i don't like this album where i've liked all their albums and i think that's the one that sums it up best

i just dgaf about lyrical cohesion/quality 99% of the time and the mess clearly shares my sentiment.

chocolate jackalope and flossie dickey bounce are horrendous when it comes to that

that's fair dude I understand. I personally thought Young Robot was a great curveball and the flute was cool lmao.
The Drake reference was hilarious the first time but it does lose it's luster quickly

Yeah the Drake reference is a bad aspect especially as it won't age well at all

honestly after the bomb Cocaine Cringe Fest part flossie gets a bit boring
Everything else in Chocolate Jackalope I love though

Alright, I tried suffering through the Kurt albums again yesterday and they are just awful, especially Happiness. Every song is just that same off-pitch tenor aaaaah drone.
You guys actually think the line about the lottery that's repeated 15 times is better than Tilian's lyrics? Pay attention to how many times Kurt resorts to rhyming (all the fucking time) vs. Tilian in his verses (not much). Not rhyming is actually harder than writing a rhyming lyric. I'll take Tilian's lyrics about self-doubt over Kurt's bragging any day.

Kurt-era was great for me. The Hot Water on Wool combo is criminally underrated, and the first half of Happiness is outstanding. Hell, I dig most of Happiness outside of Don't Tell Dave and Swish 1. Tillian's 10x better on this album than IG though

I don't understand why everyone is getting so worked up over Will's part in Jackalope, it's like three super short bars of quirkiness that honestly leads perfectly into the next section of the song. It's silly and carefree, and pretty perfect for the group tbh

Because it sounds like they finished the song/album and then added that in because "oh no we didn't have Will rap let's throw something together"
|

"I don't even fucking feel nobody, I keep sucking up the feeling that it's all a waste and I'm just waiting in a body" is probably my favourite Mess line on here

Each album brings something different, and this album is no exception. Only thing is, this album is different because it's missing something. It's above par of the genre per usual, but below par for DGD or even the swancore genre. That being said, I'm still jamming it out and it has me revisiting older DGD as well.

lol Swancore

Can't believe that caught on
