It struck the perfect balance between electronica and honest folk-falsettos.

"If you're one of those dipshits who adores every turd that comes out of Kanye's asshole, possibly yeah."
Well not EVERY turd, but in case of his Auto-Tuned crooning songs, yeah, I'm one of those "dipshits"

FullOfSounds, since this came up as a conversation point about this album earlier, which half of the album was more instantly likable, the first or the latter half, and which one took more listens to enjoy? Cause for most people so far, it seems either one way or the other.

I know the question wasn't adressed to me, but ima answer anyway. The first half hit me pretty quickly as brilliant, the second half less so which seems more like easy listening and less experimental 'For Emma' era Bon Iver. I think both halves compliment one another well though

I think the whole album is consistent in quality. The first half was more immediate for me, and on second listen right now, I'm liking the second half more.

Well, yeah, same for me, the first half is just a little more "out there", so the hooks cling to your ears faster, but now I think I might like 666, Circle, and A Million the most. The whole thing is pretty brilliant though.
I was asking cause a couple of people a few pages back said that they were instantly loving the latter half of the record, but just couldn't get into the first 4-5 songs.

Circle is becoming one of my favorites too.

I dont think the latter songs would have the impact that they do without the first half giving the contrast that it does.

Yeah, the album is very well balanced, paced, and really wins from not being too long.

yeah the length is spot on, would have really worsened it for me even if it was 10 minutes longer or so

I think I might be starting to legitimately hate this album, I have an inexplicably profound disappointment with it.

It was sort of dumb of me: I loved the live performance, and I loved 22/10 (the extended cuts), but I was lukewarm on the leak. For whatever reason, I expected the final product to be something different and better. To be honest, this album just frustrates me more than anything, because I want so bad to love it more than I do. Felt something similar with Bon Iver, Bon Iver, but that at least had Holocene, Wash, etc. I don't actually love a single song from this album right now. Might just drop it for a few months before I rate it a 1 on impulse.

"Heavenly Father" is better than anything on here.

For sure, I'm just going to leave it for a few weeks and come back to it. Because it's something I can imagine loving, just having a bit of a weird experience with this one. And "Heavenly Father" was a good song, I wish more of this album was like "Comrade" by Volcano Choir, but again that might be a bit of a dumb expectation.
