wow we have identical views on this album. I agree with all your points, even if it does make me loose credibility from some people I hate this band and i refuse to be dishonest about my opinion

I have been trying to get into this band for well over almost two years by now with no luck. Any progression I think I'm making in understanding their music instantly backfires when I turn it off and starts to listen to something else. Why the hell is this band so praised everywhere and why don't I get it? :C

try 10,000 days
it's a lot more mellower and accessible than this

10,000 Days is clown shoes though.
Aenima is best.

I'm not trying to scare him off yazz lol
I'm just saying that if he wants to get into this band, he might want to check out that album

not a 5, but close
Aenima is easiest to access imo

I'd agree that Aenima is probably the easiest Tool album to get into as a whole, though 10,000 Days has some of their most accessible individual songs (Vicarious, The Pot)

they better do something new on their next album cause they start to sound the same after a while

Tool's Greatest Hits is definitely where it's at.

I wouldn't have a problem with them going into a similar direction to Lateralus. 10.000 days was a bit too mellow for my taste.

Mhhmmmm if Tool had a greatest hits album it would probably look like this (even though it's not going to happen)
1. Hush
2. Sober
3. Prison Sex
4. Stinkfist
5. H.
6. Forty Six & 2
7. Ænema
8. Schism
9. Parabola
10. Lateralus
11. Vicarious
12. Jambi
13. The Pot

I actually made a greatest hits CD for my dad and had those exact same songs. Different order though.
I imagine Tool doing one of those "The Essential ____" comp albums with a really cheesy band picture. That'd be hilarious.

They'd probably totally lose their cred in the process though. Although.. who knows what kind of crazy shit Maynard comes up with.

Rightfully so.

They only release those for bands that are inactive or have a million releases. Maybe in 10 years.
Also, Alice in Chains and Iron Maiden didn't "lose their cred" so I doubt anyone would really care if Tool had one.
