did this review really try to say that thrice fans are "in for variety" here? just because of the closer? that song feels jarring because of how homogenous this release is. this is their most homogenous release right after major minor

This album has four stellar songs, some okay filler, and some crimes against humanity.

Crimes against humanity?

I never would've expected any Thrice album to literally offend someone

I never considered that song to be offensive tbh, granted its a touchy subject but it's not like it's mocking it, more or less pointing the finger at anyone in particular

I'm being hyperbolic lol. I'm just really bummed out by how much I don't like this album.

But atleast there are no 9/11 conspiracy songs. I forgot about that shit. Which is a shame, because I love that song, lyrics aside.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little disappointed, but I think my expectations were always too high. That said, it's still a great album, I just wish there was more variety musically. The lyrics are also a little ham-fisted, considering how Thrice have always excelled at subtle imagery.

Thrice haven't been "subtle" for quite some time now

True but when a band takes a 5 year hiatus saying they haven't done a certain thing "for a while now" is somewhat redundant

Yeah, I guess when I think Thrice, my go to is Artist. On another note I never got the love for Beggars, I actually think M/M is a better album.

M/M is definitely better than Beggars. I think most fans would agree with that.

Yeah not that we speak of RYM around these parts but they seemed to be a lot warmer toward Beggars

Tbh I think both albums are pretty equal
