Don't speak to me adr I never understand wth you're talking about with your broken English.

your comments itt speak for itself tbh
DM was nothing, but straight in 1991
Comparing an album that came out 4 years earlier and is significant for it's time with a dm album from 1991.
Also how anything Gorguts released after Obscura is technical for the sake of being technical, but Obscura itself isn't?
You don't make sense tbh

FWTH is the best Gorguts since they figured out how to scale back the silliness of Obscura and distill out its most interesting harmonic ideas into a more familiar and effective style of DM.
this, this, soooooooo much this

Okay so a lot of people want death metal to be something "more" because typical death metal sux like deaths or gorguts debut, then a ground-breaking album like obscura comes out and you want gorguts to scale back everything that makes it unique or interesting into a more familiar and "effective" style of DM? Contradiction much?

because the indulgences of obscura make it difficult to listen to at times, yes
there's a way to incorporate technicality without losing the rest, you know (erosion and from wisdom both do this very well)
|
| |
Yeah they sacrificed their uniqueness and their composed became a little less interesting
But Fwth is a good compromise and they undeniably still riff pretty fucking hard
|
| |
Obscura is pretty easy listening if you ask me

right but how long did it take for you to get used to that record

harsh noise is easier for me to sit thru than obscura tbh. but i am DM pleb so
|
| |
It took me like 4 listens
I mean now that I'm used to it, it's easy listening
|

It took me a while personally. That being said I'm surprised to see so many people here commenting that FWtH is their best and that Obscura is over indulgent. I had the feeling that most on this site would have Obscura first. Jammed FWtH again tonight and it's definitely a great album, but to me, Obscura has a bit of magic that I haven't really heard anywhere else. I don't find it to be overly technical and I'm usually more on the sensitive side as far as overly techy DM goes. That's just me.

incredibly boring

Incredibly contributory to the conversation. Also I would hate to be you if "incredibly boring" is your average considering that rating.

Obscura is their best. If you disagree you're a pussy in denial, or you know nothing about metal.

something can be boring but not necessarily bad, so a 2.5 makes sense to me for something boring

jeez, people like you are the reason metalheads often get a bad name
|
| |
Thanks Choccy but I don't think it's unreasonable to deride someone for just saying "incredibly boring," and giving no reason for it. I've got no problem with a bad rating but at least make an effort to say why.
|

no I think choc was talking to spado
|
| |
True, my bad if that's the case, understandable comment if so, lol.

The only thing giving metalheads a bad name is people in this thread saying FWtH is better than Obscura. FWtH is the worst of their first four albums. I'd even question whether you even like Gorguts if you think it's their best.
