"Dude I'm just using the definition of suffering and suffer in the dictionary. You can have your own definition, that's cool,"
well then there you have it, we arent on the same page at all and thats fine. we might as well be arguing about different things.
"but the fact remains that Antony writes more real shit than James Blake will ever be capable of because he has actually spent the majority of his life in profound suffering."
yeah, conceptually that may be so but i think music speaks for itself in a sense as well. i find james blakes music itself far more ~real~ and evocative in an aural sense than anthonys but thats just me.

@anarchist, funny when you single me out for saying that, when I'm using the exact same logic people are using against me, by defining "genuine" and "suffering" ad nauseam in this conversation.

im suffering rn

"My choice of the word 'genuine' has nothing to do with sarcasm or "taking it at face value." It's a word selection that wasn't 100% accurate to the thought I wanted to put across because I don't spend four minutes proof-reading my internet posts."
no but your sarcasm has to do with this argument being a huge mess when it could have been really pleasant and thoughtful tho.
but the word choice thing i understand, however its silly to get mad at us for misinterpreting something you said that you personally admit was ill-worded and didnt get your point across the way you would have liked it to if you were trying to put it in professional terms or whatever. we cant read minds. it doesnt mean we are sitting here desperately trying to misconstrue your points and make you look like a dick dude.

i was just pointing out that everyone that ive ever heard use that sentence has done so in the context of saying dumbass shit

The second someone begins a retort directed at me beginning with "Lol," I'm gonna turn the sarcasm switch on because clearly shit ain't being taken seriously and putting thought and respect into the conversation won't get anywhere. And of course I'm going to be sarcastic when people start picking at the parts of my initial posts that don't even really have anything to do with the general idea I was trying to get across.
I didn't admit that it was "ill-worded" (again another misquote by you), I said that my word choice wasn't 100% accurate to what I meant, despite clearly getting the message across that I wanted to get across.

This is such an objectively stupid post, man. You're saying that defining a word via a dictionary is saying "dumbass shit." That actually makes zero sense.
|
| |
no he's saying ppl who quote the dictionary like that do so in the midst of some other dumb ass shit

"The second someone begins a retort directed at me beginning with "Lol," I'm gonna turn the sarcasm switch on because clearly shit ain't being taken seriously and putting thought and respect into the conversation won't get anywhere"
uh dude i never once typed lol in any of my retorts to you... if ur referring to someone else fine then but yeah ive been taking this seriously and being thoughtful so the sarcasm towards me is definitely counter-intuitive to that.
"And of course I'm going to be sarcastic when people start picking at the parts of my initial posts that don't even really have anything to do with the general idea I was trying to get across. "
well thats just kind of an awkward way to solve the issue isnt it? then everyone is going to continue to think the parts they are picking are significant when you could just clarify that that wasnt the general idea you were trying to get across
"I didn't admit that it was "ill-worded" (again another misquote by you)"
actually it wasnt a misquote at all considering i didnt actually quote you, just paraphrased this:
"My choice of the word 'genuine' has nothing to do with sarcasm or "taking it at face value." It's a word selection that wasn't 100% accurate to the thought I wanted to put across because I don't spend four minutes proof-reading my internet posts."
into the term 'ill-worded' for the sake of being succinct.
"I said that my word choice wasn't 100% accurate to what I meant, despite clearly getting the message across that I wanted to get across."
well clearly it wasnt so clear, but now that we've talked i do get what you were getting at. just a shame we went through such a round-about to get here.

dismissing one persons suffering for not being as suffery as another persons suffery suffering is pretty suffering to me.

i forget what band it is, some shitty pop punk band or something but they have a line that goes something like this
"you dont have it any better, you dont have it any worse. everyone has their own idea of what it means so suffer and that fucking sucks."
definitely liberally quoting there as i do not remember the exact words but thats the rough of it and i always liked that

actually it wasnt a misquote at all considering i didnt actually quote you, just paraphrased this:
You're doing the same exact troll-y thing you already did that made me start being sarcastic while trying to chastise me for being sarcastic in the first place. I have no regrets about how I've handled the situation. I don't think the weight of this conversation was worth taking seriously. I made a remark that I still stand by, and that's that.

p4p - the clue is I put 'emphasis' on the arty and free form in other words I found it contrived and in yer face unsubtle in its intentions. Might as well have just made that the album title
I didn't buy it at all
I'm not saying I can't enjoy something arty
