Still haven't listened to this. The Jesus Lizard are as essential as post-hardcore and noise rock can get.

Have not read any of this thread, and while I applaud the author for taking this on (and you did a pretty good job, mind) I think the first half is marred by absolute statements and a line of analysis that I find to be pretty one sided. Saying things like "all" black female musicians have their music anchored by male-dominated themes and such is a pretty serious leap that I'm not willing to make - nor does this really add anything to your analysis to begin with.
