that quick? I'd say the middle section kinda wears thin, but I think this probably edges out around a 3.7/8 for me. It picks up rather well near the end and makes up for the patchier sections. The band described it as being their "Ramones" record, a high-tempo poppier album, and it shows, for better or worse. I think if they can just get another album out without taking next to almost three years, that'd be cool. Also, get Deak back....or for a curve ball, scale down even further and see what can be done.

'Recycling' is a decent closing track following GG but that stretch from 'Bagels' to 'Summing' does little for me

each to his own I guess, though I think this and Centipede have the misfortune of coming after something as big as MPP. I'm split on Recycling, it just peters out and doesn't really feel all too "final" like Golden Gal does.

The opening couple of minutes of 'Recycling' are great, I think the fade out/coda perhaps feels a bit unrelated to the rest of the song but ends the album on an appropriately quirky note - like a wind-up circus toy in its death throes

I agree with this. Love "Golden Gal" though. Still not sure where to rate the album just yet.
"[Recycling] ends the album on an appropriately quirky note - like a wind-up circus toy in its death throes"
Such an AnCo thing to do.

Half this album is amazing, and half of it is rubbish. Bagels in Kiev is a great tune, agreed atomic!

'Bagels' is ok in a chin-strokey indie spectacles Vampire Weekend sorta way, it would have been eaten alive on MPP or Strawberry Jam though - a bit too polite sounding

What does any of that mean dude

It means it's not daring, it's inoffensive and bland but will be enjoyed by wankers. Come on now.

it's probably an intellectually satisfying piece but the song just doesn't tickle my balls in the first place

'Thracks - it sounds a bit like Vampire Weekend and their ilk which is a sound I associate with a particular bookish-indie-nerd scene is all I'm saying. It's mildly disappointing because I associate AnCo with greatness and VW with meh-ness.
It's the equivalent of the truly innovative Radiohead dropping a new tune that reminds me of the bland-car-advert-rock of Coldplay. Such a scenario wouldn't nosh my knob so to speak

It's sad to me that this and centipede have the same average considering centipede is way better than this
""Bagels in Kiev" is sweet. This is growing on me hard."
I liked this one first listen then it grew off me. Kinda sounds like some cheesy Beck number. "Natural Selection" and "Floridada" are the only ones I really cared for.
