it's a 5 by principle, you just can't get more raw than this!

Ironically, not even Raw Power is this raw.

though a major reason why I love Turn Blue is because for an album that is quite positive, it's more in the vein of The Idiot without the cold-sounding production. Plus it was definitely more meant for a live performance where Iggy was far more unhinged. Hearing this performance when I was getting into Iggy/Stooges-related stuff when I was 13 blew my mind.

The problem with turn blue is the lyrics for me... I mean, it's iggy pop, not expecting much, but they're just god awful.

Considering Bowie and Warren Peace (who worked with Bowie on stuff on Diamond Dogs iirc) wrote the majority of Turn Blue while Iggy was still in rehab in '75, the lyrics could've used some polishing up but I just like that it's a song full of rather cold, harsh emotion on an album that is mostly optimistic and positive. It's a case where the mood really makes the song, but I can agree that the lyrics really aren't up to snuff with everything else on Lust for Life.

One of my favourite albums of all time

. Not a grower either.. it was from the very first time the needle hit "Down on the Streets" I new it was going to be something special. That was 35 years ago and I still get the same feeling every time.
