If Work wasn't on this album, it would be a solid 3 for me.

That track is absolute ass in every way, shape, and form. Only redeemable part of that track is Drake

Drake's part is weak af tbh. Song is excellent the second verse is one of her best ever

Disagreed completely, the way his voice melds into that track makes for the only remotely atmospheric part of it. Rihanna's voice just stands out like a sore thumb on it, and it's mixed too high (not to mention the hook is incredibly annoying)

The second verse with her layered vocals... how are you gonna say drake's section is better than that?

She's mixed so high that it actually hurts my ears.

I guess we have different ideas of sublime mixing when it comes to pop music.

I will agree that the vocals are more prominent than the instruments, but I wouldn't go as far as to say they're mixed too high. Part of the charm is that her voice becomes basically an instrument in itself, harmonizing and following the beat perfectly

Gyro, while I agree that her voice is the driving force in Work, overall it just doesn't sound good to me. Mixed way too high and also sounds relatively nasally.

Other tracks on here are so much better, I wish Work would have been cut tbh.

Fair enough. Truth be told I disliked it for a while and then one day I just thought it was awesome. Opinions

BTW who's your avatar of? Reminded me a little of Jin from samurai Champloo

Woo is still my favorite on here. It sounds so fascinatingly bleak and otherworldly because of those weird chords played in the motif

I'm with Snide here. Work barely even feels like a song to me

The entire instrumental sounds horrible and presetty, the phrasing of the vocals is so obnoxious that basically every single beat of Rihanna's sections of the song is smothered by the lead vocals, the vocals are really high, and the whole thing is saturated to hell on top of it. It's borderline unlistenable to me

Believe it or not, despite the hate the song gets, I'm actually with Gyro in regards to Work. I wouldn't say it's my favorite (again, that would be Woo), but there's an oddly minimalist atmosphere that just works with the rest of the album's overall vibe. There's something both very chill and very melancholic about Work, despite the repetitive vocals, and I think the keyboard work (excuse the pun) really adds to it too

I had to keep myself from saying it didn't WORK for me around four times in my last post

I didn't say it because I would have hated myself

Lol, that's why I had to excuse my own pun. It was too tempting to just make one, haha
