Anything is better than Slayer's latest

Haha, agreed Sounds!
And fair enough dan bro. However I think Friday is right. Megadeth is clearly more active than Metallica and seems to be way more focused and ambitious to remain relevant and stay in the game. But then... I've always been kind of a fanboy so it's a bit difficult for me to be fully objective :]

this is better than hardwired and just as good as endgame probably, which in turn was better than death magnetic.
deth revival > metallica revival
just like how RiP > MoP

I'll give Megadeth the 90's and 2000's, but I prefer 80's Metallica in general. However, I think RiP is on par with everything they've done. Better? That's up in the air for me.

Well yeah, Metallica and Iron Maiden ruled the 80s.

Megadeth had some solid 90's output for sure.....i probably like Testament's just as much with Souls, The Ritual, Low, and The Gathering

I wouldn't say that this is better than Hardwired though.

It's nothing to get ecstatic about, but it's definitively better and a solid effort. I would at least check out the self titled song.

I'm surprised at the lukewarm reception this album received around here. Quite a different user base than 2009 obviously, but this is at least on par with Endgame and people went nuts over that one. This is such a killer record. The first five songs are up there with Megadeth's best material...

" The first five songs are up there with Megadeth's best material..."
Nooooope. No way jose. I really can't understand what everyone hears on this album. It's pretty average. Nowhere near the system has failed, which was a great comeback (and one of the best albums in megadeth's discography, imo...Definitely top 5).
Personnal ranking of Megadeth albums:
1. Peace Sells
2. Countdown
3. RiP
4. The System has Failed
5. So far
6. Killing is my business
7. Risk (i know this is controversial but i liked it, rated it a 3.5)
8. Youthanasia
9. Dystopia
10. Cryptic Writings / The World needs a Hero
12. United Abominations / Endgame / Thirteen
15. SuperCollider
edit: gonna give the album another chance or 2, though. I feel i haven't spinned it enough and since a lot of people have been praising it, i guess it deserves it.

You have the correct top 5 (though I'd order them differently)^

^Yup, i know a lot of people prefer RiP and wouldn't put countdown at 2 hehe but it's based on my personal preference. Something just doesn't click with me on RiP even though it's a great album. The first 4 are the ones i usually listen to when i'm in a megadeth mood (and sometimes Risk, because it's pretty different so different mood heh). The rest, i just don't listen to as much or not at all (everything after Dystopia, basically xD).
And Titan, i'd suggest you listen to it. It's not a classic but it's much better than Thirteen and SuperCollider.
