It's not such an unreasonable statement, especially if you choose to ignore the influence factor. In fact when I look at my own SW (including Bass Communion, Storm Corrosion, I.E.M. and PT) and PF ratings, more great albums have been recorded by the former.

Even if PF weren't an influence on SW, he would have had some amazing music. His taste on music is so versatile that his creativity wouldn't be less. Maybe he wouldn't be that known, but he definitely wouldn't be any less great.

It's quite hard to compare artists belonging to two clearly different musical eras. I think while Floyd records have undeniably achieved a state of timelessness, we still see them as stuck in their time, as monuments that shaped today's music. SW represents, to me at least, a continuation of that sound that captures the "zeitgeist", if you'd like, of my generation. Hence, I think two completely different factors influence our appreciation of SW and PF

In the end I'd say I prefer Wilson's music, because I can emotionally relate to it more, no matter how timeless Pink Floyd are.

On another note, My Book and Regrets and Happiness III's deliberately catchy and summery vibe is surprising but very pleasant. Both just get me smiling most of the time, which is something new from SW music

Although I usually do smile of amazement hearing the first minutes of Luminol

This is pretty dire imo. Only stand out track is Year of the Plague, which is sad because I expected a lot more after how good HCE is

Not surprised in the least bit that the hipster of prog is a vegetarian. A Pink Floyd Burger would be great, though. Imagine...wrapped in an Atom Heart Mother napkin hehe
