These goddamn Ulcerate puns are going to be the destroyers of all, I swear. I'm honestly drowning within your guys' stupidity right now.

Slightly prefered Roads over this, it still is the shits. Ulcerate 2016 aoty by the way

I think I might 5 this.
I can't find a flaw in it.

Idk, I can still see him improving further.

I wonder if he'll pull another "concept" with future albums like he did with this/Roads/Kentucky.

pretty sure years ago he mentioned Collapse II was going to be a thing. That was years ago tho so for all we know that concept might've turned into this. I'd like another concise concept record like that, though; structurally I thought Collapse worked really well--especially since it wasn't stupidly long like pretty much everything else he's done :3 :3 :3

?
most of his albums are like 45 minutes

I think this album would've been so so so much better if it had more songs like tamarack's gold returns.

so basically if it was more like Roads

this is why i'm happy lunn just does whatever he likes, because if he did it the way fans wanted, we'd just have 7 collapses, but probably only 1 interesting one

Still think this and Roads > Collapse.

totally agree with you, I think that Collapse suffers from subpar mixing. though the argument can be made that the suffocating nature of the way collapse was mixed added to its atmosphere, but i think it's a bit overdone

I'd actually agree with that. I still think it's a good album but I just think Roads and Autumn Eternal show him at his current peak.
Plus I just think so far Lunn has mostly improved in terms of songwriting. Barring Kentucky, that was terrible.

i like kentucky.....
but i totally get why people hate it.
I feel like he had a lot of ideas for S/T and Collapse, then he stepped back and had to start from scratch, like S/T and Collapse was a built up collection of ideas he'd had for awhile, but with Social Disservices he had to start fresh, which is why there's basically a straight line up in songwriting quality since then

It just feels super haphazard to me in terms of songwriting and structure.
Mhm yeah that sounds like a reasonable assessment. He definitely has a lot of ideas, particularly for a one man project. He does seem like he has a quite an array of interests, too. I'd be quite interested in visiting his brewery at some point.

Yeah I want to hit that up too, it'd be interesting to see if he has the same intense passion for the craft of brewing as he does for music making. It'd probably make for a tasty micro
Hammer Heart brewing is a dope name, too
Yeah Kentucky is a bit of a mess, but it feels like a solidly American mess, so I'm endeared to it somewhat
edit: look at this, seems like they're doing quite well for themselves: http://www.hammerheartbrewing.com/img/mnavailability.pdf

Yeah, I just can't connect with it at all. Roads already has a degree of nostalgic value for me. Not surprising given the craft boom in the U.S. Plus he learned brewing in Norway so I don't doubt they whip up some interesting brews.
