Some of the debates on this thread about their Deftones influence have made me laugh, aren't bands allowed to take inspiration from others now or something? For those looking for something 'completely' original I'm afraid you'll be disappointed as there is no such thing as being totally original nowadays, everything has been done before in some way or another it is how an artist/band interprets these concepts/sounds and puts their own twist on it that gives it their own sound and distinguishable identity and Fightstar to their credit have done exactly that, this isn't copying Deftones at all it is merely hinting that they're influenced and inspired by them in the same way that so many Alternative Rock bands nowadays more then I care to mention are clearly influenced by Nirvana or how Oasis where clearly influenced by The Beatles and bands from the 60's but to say they actually sound exactly the same is complete nonsense! Even a band as progressive and seemingly unique as The Mars Volta are only rehashing concepts originally bought about by the likes of; King Crimson, Miles Davis and Led Zeppelin but it's what they do with these sounds that give it credibility. Fightstar are 1 of the most credible alternative rock bands going, they can produce crushingly heavy Metal moments with beautiful melodic pop and progressive music in equal measure, I personally think they're better then Deftones and believe me when I say this I absolutely love some of Deftones stuff and I think Chino Moreno is something of an unsung genius as is I must add Charlie Simpson, sadly he's still after all these years struggling to shake off the association with Busted not helped by the British media constantly stirring up speculation of him reuniting with them. It's like they want his Rock career to fail in favour of returning to the cheap and artistically dumbed down chart pop of this previous career path, just shows how dreadful their music tastes must be!

"yeah but completely ripping off some other band is another thing" But they're not completely ripping anyone off. Fightstars sound is unmistakably their own!
"and not sounding good is another thing" according to who?... the majority of the professional music press tend to disagree with you there, not 1 of their album's has received a bad review from the major music journals and they have a dedicated and loyal fanbase even if it's not the biggest. When they first broke onto the scene I must admit I was rather sceptical about their chances but then I heard Palahnuiks Laughter and heard how much potential there was there and then I lost track of them for awhile until a few years later when I heard Floods from One Day Son and it reminded me abit of Muse mixed with a hint of Silverchair and I was like 'Yeah this is actually rather brilliant' and I was even more impressed with Unfamiliar Ceilings and that inspired decision to get a woman to sing the chorus, after that I was completely hooked on this band. Deftones are fantastic for imagination but their songs don't posses the infectious melodies of Fightstar to go with it. I vividly remember reading an article in Rock Sound when they formed with the headline "Choose Or Loose", I'm glad to say I'm one of the few who didn't pre-judge this band because of Charlie's pop past and Chose to follow them, sadly too many people out there just cant see beyond the end of their noses as soon as the name's Charlie Simpson or Fightstar are mentioned, it's just pathetic musical fascism if you ask me (inverted snobbery)!

No-ones even mentioned this, and barely anyone has brought this up since 2007. Get your ignorant head out your ass and stop writing paragraphs of fanboyistic drivel. I like the album as well, but god fucking damn that was a paragraphs worth of irrelevant shite.
