I really like Holy Fire, so hearing some re-hashed ideas here that miss the mark mixed in with some pretty stale songs just isn't doing much for me. It's not bad. I purchased this the day to came out and have only listened to it 3 or 4 times.

Haha well, I am disappointed. Sometimes I just won't rate an album for a long time. If it is a band I'm pretty familiar with and have heard all of their albums I eventually rate them all once I get a feel for how they stand up against each other.

@talons and ed yeah ok i was exaggerating a bit but essentially i still despise his taste. he's a solid writer tho, it's not like he wouldn't deserve his staff status

Artuma, you shouldn't despise my taste... You should simply have your own tastes (which may be different to mine). I definitely don't despise (insert metalhead expert)'s taste.
And as JWT said, I don't think there is a certain taste that is staff standards. I think what you were trying to say was that you take my reviews & ratings with a grain of salt, since our tastes are different.

Yea it's honestly a pretty huge let down. I was somewhat floored. I'm all for Foals going dark, but losing their complexity & originality in the process is just aggravating.

this was a huge letdown tbh, grew off of me a lot some great songs but they need to bring a fully-realized album next time to reach their potential

Yeah, don't get me wrong. This is very clearly above Imagine Dragon's level, but at the same time it doesn't sound like there anything all that interesting going for it... or at least, not enough to justify so many tracks. I've liked some of FOALS other stuff at least.
