Def one of the melodeath albums of all time

Listened to this for the first time today, it was... fine? Feels like a completely different band than what I'm familiar with which is the first 5 albums.
Nothing wrong with evolving though, especially after so many records.

I can sorta see where Kusangii's coming from tbh. Modern Soilwork has been gradually getting more simpler in their song structures, especially with regards to more hooks (look at Overgivenheten for a better example, tons of Night Flight Orchestra there). That combined with the cleaner production that's been developing as early as Natural Born Chaos, and it makes for a more accessible approach.

Davey, if you want something that sounds like early-ish Soilwork, check out Disarmonia Mundi's albums with Strid

Disarmonia are cool yeah, I have a lot of fond memories with their stuff, Fragments especially is a favorite of mine.

It ain't one-for-one sure, though the influence is there at the very least.
Though I suppose my opinion means nil to someone that seems to prefer their newer stuff, so it doesn't bother me too much.

it really isn't, maybe like 2-3 songs sure but the rest of the album is objectively Soilwork doing their thing
I see more NFO influence in Verkligheten than in this
