I know Dan, I didn't take it literally. Although, you may be in the minority on the "good taste" opinion. Haha.

I've come to the conclusion that my opinions do often go against popular sput opinion. You're talking to the guy who thinks The Artist And The Ambulance is Thrice's best pre Vheissu album, and better than Vheissu.

This is easily my AOTY.
Also, Andrew's Song isn't directly about a dog; it's about the ex who always told him to write a song about her dog.

Dan, I usually prefer a band's less heavy stuff too... But not in the case of Thrice & 'Vheissu'.
Ebola, I might temporarily promote you to Staff just to get this on our year-end list!

Ebola - Thanks for the info, I guess I got my facts mixed up, but I still find the song a bit sappy regardless.
Davey - Yeah, I kinda blame over hype on that. I've been hearing for years "Vheissu is one of the best PHC albums of all time", and when I finally sat down and listened to it, I found myself underwhelmed, despite how good it was. That's why I'm hesitant to go through Thursday's discog, I don't want to be underwhelmed because of hype (despite your positive ratings)

One of the best things I've learnt on this site is: Do anything to avoid the hype. It can only lead to disappointment.
As for Thursday, they're an acquired taste. Presuming Geoff Rickly's voice doesn't throw you off, I can almost assure you that you will like at least one of their LPs a lot... But picking which one is not as easy as it sounds.

Such a great live band. So nice too.

Davey - I listened to all the big singles from Thursday, and liked those alot. I also listened to the No Devotion album and thought that was great (though I know it's a completely different style). I know from reading your reviews they are right up my ally. That's why they're at the top of my list of things to listen to in 2016.

Stop gloating Storm. ;-) Unsure if they've even been down under.
Rickly clearly doesn't bother you Dan... So just find the time to go through their discog one by one. Noting the progression is pretty cool.

Yeah, I always start at the first album and work my way through. Like you said, it's good to hear the progression of artists.

These guys and Fightstar are probably the best post hardcore bands right now

One of the best concerts I've ever attended.
Awesome band + tiny venue + front row is always a recipe for a good time.

That's it.... Since my "Bring I The Mighty to Wikipedia" campaign worked so well, I better start a "Bring I The Mighty to Australia" one now.

Just saw these guys, put on a great show.
My friend met them after, too. Nice guys. He asked them if they had ever heard of Converge (don't ask me why he just did) but they said they never even heard of them. I find that...hard to believe. Anyways thought that was interesting. Good album.

They aren't on Sputnik so I don't find that hard to believe lol... would've never heard about Converge if I wasn't on this site

I don't know if it's just me, but over time the lyrics have hurt this album for me. They're just so... humble-braggy I guess? Like,
"Knowing damn well if I told you how I felt, I'd crack the ice"
idk they're still good, but after meeting them I feel like Brent is really lowkey arrogant

I don't really see what you mean. I love the lyrics personally, and from our very brief interaction, I pegged Brent as a pretty cool guy. Although it wouldn't be all that surprising; musicians, especially frontmen, are often pretty arrogant.

Well that's true I also heard about them from this site. But to think that Converge was quite possibly one of Equal Vision's most defining artists, I'd think they would at least hear of them before, considering they themselves are on EV. But I dunno, not a huge Converge fan anyways.
