I feel like Modest Mouse never really released the album that they could have. Like this is easily their most passionate album, but the songwriting is kind of iffy. Then with every release up to Good News, their songwriting got better with the best songwriting being on Good News, but each release also lost more and more passion. I don't know. Lonesome Crowded West and Moon probably do the best at having both, but as far as full albums front to back, I find myself not liking these guys as much as I wish I could.
