There is a certain deepness to the first album that wasn't really reproduced in their following albums. It
isn't exactly a deep album, but deep in comparison to the rest of their discog.
But not really underrated when it has the highest rating by the community.

Still not sure why All Hope is Gone is received so poorly. The further away from nu metal this band gets, the less retarded and embarrassing they sound

I didn't find anything inherently wrong with the nu metal that slipknot were doing before

It's all so damn juvenile :/ then again, I already hate nu metal as a whole, so I think my criticisms sorta extended to this band too

Nu-metal Slipknot is the shit. Self-titled has some killer guitar lines, production and vocals, and it flows perfectly despite the abundance of tracks. Doesn't require much thinking power to enjoy to the fullest as well.

Iowa has some great stuff and s/t only has two or three songs I love. Vol. 3 and AHIG are definitely their best imo

Iowa spoke to the angsty teenager in me at the time... Even years later It's probably one of the angriest albums in my collection. Not my favorite Knot album, but definitely harder hitting than AHIG.
