Listen to the album then, it's definitely worth it.

Yeah, could the reviewer actually talk about the album and the songs, and not what he wanted the album to sound like. That would be, like, cool.

The only thing I get out of this review is that Opeth is not the same as before. This was made clear in the first line of the first paragraph. And I see no reason to formulate that idea every two sentences.

I'm sure he'd give it at least an 8 if it had one song with trap influenced beats

Well, there's some truth in that comment. Mikael does what he wants to do, that's quite obvious.

I like it but man I'd kill for Mikael to growl on the next album.

I couldn't care less if he growls or not. I just hope the music itself has better dynamics.

In my mind, easily the best and most cohesive of Opeth's three non-metal albums. "Heritage" was extremely scattershot in its approach, lacked memorable riffs, and, worst of all, some of the songs were quite Frankensteinian in how they grafted together musical parts with little to do with one another. These problems have largely disappeared on "Pale Communion." A much more polished effort with some superb vocals from Mikael Akerfeldt. That being said, it doesn't reach the same lofty heights as Opeth's best work (i.e. their metal albums).

It's weird how the hype for this came and went so quickly for this. You'd think people would still be talking about it a lot.

Yea that's just what I was thinking. Not bad, but kind of a disappointment.
