this style of black metal is pretty cheesy too, dont love how prominent the orchestral stuff is throughout the whole thing

Nothing more annoying than when an album comes out, you say it isn't good on release, and it takes two years for people to finally start catching on after they were previously deepthroating it.

I really don't mind cheese, especially not in black metal, but I see your point. It gets a little fatiguing after a while when a lot of parts get really loud and 'verby. This would have beneftited from a more down to earth production I think.
