"I really hate the approval system on this site. It should either be removed, or changed to require someone who negs a review to make a comment."
I mean that would be nice, but if people don't like your review they don't like it. You shouldn't let a couple negs get you down because people will neg for opinion too and not just grammar.

mongi is correct you can write a review of a much loved album on here that just says 'blibble' 200
times and if your rating matches theirs it'll probably get posed

pretty dead set on a 3 for this. Tracks 3 and 5-7 are great, however everthing else here is either boring or unengaging

the chord progressions sound very predictable on this

finally gave this a full listen and its really not that bad, like a 3.4 or so. marrow is a little better mainly because of To Drown
|
| |
Its more of a 3.2 for me oh well :/
|
| |
i prolly like it better than marrow. took over 7 listens to really sink in though...
|

and i'm thinking more like a 4.2 :3

plateau is easily the most boring song here imo

its just 10 minutes of literally nothing building up to nothing

well i usually give albums a few spins to really sink in, regardless of the band. Unless I just really don't like it at all on my first listen. I did like this on my first listen though, I just didn't grow to love it until I heard it several times. I know it gets redundant hearing people say "it's a grower!" or whatever but the first time I heard the mantle i really dug it whereas this just took a lot more time to sink in. Ironically, despite the first review posted for this, it's probably their least repetetive album which is why a lot of moments don't seem memorable at first. Sometimes a little repetition can make a song stand out more initially.

| |
on the other hand i do love agalloch so to say they're not part of the reason I've jammed this so much would be a lie. but i give every album a fair chance can't really judge an album like this after just one or even two listens
