this is constantly fluctuating between a 3 or a 3.5 for me. In all honesty, this makes me appreciate marrow quite a bit more

FYI, a review ALWAYS need to be readable. If you thought that imitating the emotions you felt while listening to the record would translate into a decent review, you are wrong. This is unbearable to read, and even if that was the point of the review, you've committed writing error 101.

Pretty good album. It wasn't what I expected from having heard the single. Much more subdued than I thought it would be. It sounds like they're not in such a hurry. I don't mind that. Good for when the right mood strikes.

I wish more of it was like The Astral Dialogue in terms of tempo and aggressiveness. Most of it seems too timid and it just plods along in some places.

If any of you are curious as to how repetition can be used effectively, you should listen to my instrumental avant-garde EP which I have thrown up on my YouTube channel:

I like how the failure is admitted by way of an effective example

My only gripe with this album is that its too long for its own good. Those acoustic interludes by Musk ox slay hard. I also don't think the album is repetitive at all, every song has a distinct vibe to it, while still feeling like it belongs together.

After 10 listen I'd rate this about a 3.8/5, its not as good as their first three albums, far from actually. But its definitely not worse than Marrow (which I thought to be a much more shallow and uninteresting album).

Album is not even hardly as bad or boring as you guys make it out to be.

i really don't like the second and third acoustic interludes, i think they interrupt the flow of the album, first one is good though

i think this is slowly growing on me but there are definitely things about it i don't like

A lot of different opinions! Currently downloading it and will listen tonight after work. Can't say I'm not curious but also concerned as a huge Agalloch fan.

In all honest it isn't that bad. It's main problem is just how inconsistent it is. the middle of the album is where the good material is. Tracks 3-6 and track 8 are great stuff. The album fall flat on its face on almost every single other track. Its a good album, but it really is one hell of a disappointment.

Biggest issue is the production in my opinion. Too flat for the atmosphere to develop properly over each track.

Compeletely agree.

the production is also a problem, but the lack of atmosphere is apparent right from the get go
