allow me to clear that up for you. we ppl in the black community do not care about what she's trying. in fact we're impressed she's tried at all and she pulls it off most of the time which is something to be commended. stop trying to negate for shit that really doesn't matter.
Not saying we do care about what she's trying, but as someone put it...this she is basically the aural equivalent of blackface. Not to mention she's someone who's on record for saying she's a slave master. There's really nothing to be impressed about her. Not to say this can't be enjoyed, and I'm with you on that.

She isn't being pilloried for playing hip-hop (otherwise the same accusations would be leveled at people like Eminem, which they're not. It's not like Iggy is the first white rapper), but for things like racist tweets, or a lyric in her song where she calls herself a runaway slave master. The fact that she's from Australia and her fake accent almost seems like a mockery notwithstanding.

the dodgy tweets and lyrics - fair enough, i didn't know about those and that certainly doesn't do her any favours. the voice thing i still don't understand though, loads of artists change their accent/voice when singing and in iggy's case it'd probably sound terrible if she didn't
