Loving it so far. Yeah it's different from recent albums, but isn't that what we want from bands? Rather than the same stale sound every album for 10 years, something fresh.

Curse.

The slower songs on this album sound very Deftones-ish

Twinge is a wicked chilled out closer, but unsettling at the same time

I get a deftones like vibe from the slower songs on here I like it. Pete's Maynard influence definitely shows on here a lot.

I love when I watch their studio sessions and hear little snippets of songs and then thinking "I wonder what the final version of that song will sound like". It always ends up pleasantly surprising me like it did on An Island.

Yeah, Chevelle has never really made any videos that were past being standard

@sapient

I kinda dug the video for "The Red." None of the others really reached that vibe, though. "The Clincher" maybe, but...eh.

I can definitely hear the Deftones in this album, especially on "One Ocean" and "Twinge." The songs aren't exclusively heavy and crunchy; the guitars are used more for tighter melodies instead of rhythmic and percussive hooks. Coming from a band like Chevelle who've made that hard Tool influence so big, having them ease off the rhythm and more into the melodic and toned fields is a pretty big deal.

Vitamin R and I Get It were good videos.

The only reasons I liked these guys more than every other nu-metal act was the atmospheric choruses and Pete's

ridiculously good voice. This album seems so awash in fake grit that it's putting me to sleep. (Yeah ok I'm only four tracks

in but still.) This is just dull.

edit: Choking Game is actually pretty good.
