So I had a dream the other night that I listened to this again and loved it... guess that's a sign I should take it for another whirl.

well they're playing at End of the Road, which I'll hopefully be working at again (last year was just... so good). Looking forward to it.

I'm not sure how it'll translate in a festival atmosphere. I saw him/his backing band in a really intimate Parisian venue with great acoustics. First hour was spellbinding stuff.

Unfamiliar with 75% of the artists on that link but it sounds cool

Well I saw Evening Hymns there last year at about midday - similar thing with a guy singing about death and being all beautiful. It was lovely, but I'm sure a more intimate setting would be better for sure

He comes across as really intense on stage so hopefully there's no drop in quality. The tracks he played from Benji (every one except Jim Wise, Newtown and Ben's My Friend) are even more powerful and touching in a live environment; the storytelling even more real and.. human I suppose. (before I Love My Dad, Mark mentioned his dad is 81 years old, and looks better than half of the middle-aged audience in the room..)

I know a lot of sputnikers seem to hate on Dogs but man it's a real rocker live.

Dogs is one of my favourites, in part because it's blunt enough to be unnerving the first few times you listen to it. I read a really good review which bought up the fact that, in order to change you, music has to be uncomfortable to start with. Can't help but agree for a lot of Benji.

^Pretty bad. It's honestly kinda boring. Apparently it touched people emotionally. Hasn't happened to me so ehh.
