I'm just tired of hearing people complain about the "hate" metalcore gets. You don't hear people talk about any other genre that way, even though genres like black metal get more hate then metalcore ever will (not on sputnik, but irl)

The flood got a lot of praise but it wasn't universally loved.

"or maybe they got so much hate for this album they want to try again"

that would be nice except for the fact that this album didn't get nearly as much hate as their previous albums.

Alright when I say blanket statements like that just assume I mean the general target fanbase for that particular group. They're the only ones that matter in the particular instance and it avoids us having relatively needless arguments over this kinda thing.

I say Of Mice And Men = I'm referring to feedback from magazines like alt press and the common scenesters and people that ate that shit up

I say Wolves In The Throne Room = I'm talking about sput elitists

game yeah I know what you meant

"People were bsck lashing over this album.

Flood was well received and self titled even more."

I really don't understand that, this is easily their best

@tresm87

Of course this album was hated and the flood praised, we're all sensible people here.

But considering that this is their highest selling album, no, i'm not kidding.

music forums and core music fans on the internet might not have liked it but that groups numbers/sales pale in comparison to the thousands of AP readers/scene girls/radio listeners that adore this album

"it's one of the reasons I got into harsh vocals and it's the reason I have an OMAM tattoo on the upper part of my shoulder"

dude snide you have referenced your reasoning for getting that fucking tattoo three times in the last three pages of this thread. we get it dude.

every song on the flood sounds exactly the same except for the last track (which was actually really good) The vocals were ok, but there wasn't much variation and it got monotonous really quickly. I couldn't really hear the bass. Guitar work was standard for the genre. And the drums weren't bad, but they didn't blow me away or anything.

Restoring force is boring and uninspired but it's a bit more enjoyable to me the flood, probably because the vocals aren't as obnoxious.

I played a song from OM&M's self-titled to some scene chick in the crowd before OM&M played at Warped Tour and she had no idea who it was

I find it hilarious that Metal hammer, of all music magazines, gave this an 8 or 9 out of 10. They are so fucking metal elitist yet they think this is the best Of mice and men?

Everyone hates this record, but I'm loving this revival of mid-2000's rock sound. Like BMTH sounding like You Me At Six mixed with 30STM and these dudes bringing back that Breaking Ben style. I know it's not the most original, but they're doing it pretty well. I guess I'm just not super good at filtering out the bad ones from the good ones.

Some of the songs are fairly pleasant, especially "Would You Still Be There" but it's just that the band has done much better. If it were a debut it might not have such bad reception.

Fair enough. I've only listened to it twice, so it hasn't had time to grow off of me yet. And the band has done better, but I don't think by much. I've always thought they were a fairly inconsistent band, releasing tracks that were very good and others that were very forgettable, this doesn't seem to shake that trend. It just feels like another release to them which is definitely "good" enough to satisfy me 'til their next endeavor. Hopefully they'll start making steps in a direction that aims for consistency rather than "brutality" or "catchiness".

I agree with you for the most part, but I think Feels Like Forever is actually a pretty damn good song. And if it did have the consistency of the songs you mentioned and Feels Like Forever, I'd think it's a 3.85. It's so close to breaking the mold of mediocre songs. Aaron Pauly's role in Jamie's Elsewhere was pivotal in shaping them into one of the best modern day post-hardcore acts. Nice group of dudes too. They just need to learn a thing or two from Bring Me and then go on tour's together. If only bigger bands were still into doing splits. They could do a killer one.

Solid rating too. And yeah, Austin's got some stellar moments, but he's also got some weaker ones. Aaron's definitely more consistent and probably more versatile on the whole. I agree completely. This is a stepping stone to something great.

Wow this album is terribly boring. I really liked The Flood even though I pretty much grew out of this kind of music a while ago. Still... The Flood had some great breakdowns and chaotic vocals.
