Signify :O next best tier would be Sky Moves Sideways and Deadwing, although the Yellow Hedgerow Dreamscape EP is probably on par

Well Signify and SMS were all what I was referring to when I said "early psychedelic PT", so those are all acceptable (this one is my fave, though). Only album after Signify I like is Lightbulb Sun.

Oh fair I guess I didn't count Signify as early but cool cool we good ;]
Still haven't checked Lightbulb Sun, it's one of those albums I've accidentally put off for so long it's become a Big Deal I don't wanna confront

Not to deter you even further, but it's a really sad album. So be prepared for that if you ever decide to tackle it.

But the sad bits are better than Stupid Dream's sad bits?

I wouldn't say "better", but I'd say "sadder".

Lightbulb Sun is melancholic like all their albums, but it's also their most pop rock sounding and accessible, like Stupid Dream.

After listening to many newer prog rock bands like Anathema, The Pineapple Thief, Katatonia etc. I'm finally giving a chance to Porcupine Tree. And I have to say I'm quite impressed at this sounding so good, even more considering this was just Wilson at the time. Will be moving on from here and I can't help but be excited for further listening.
I'm really catching up on the genre now since I'm new to it, so this came right after Pink Floyd's big three or four albums and it's more obvious where Wilson pulled most of his influences from. But it doesn't stop this from being great.

The next one is is the most Pink Floydyish.

Yeah, I'm on the title track's second part at the end and it's very much like Pink Floyd, however it still remains very good on its own terms. He didn't have to structure the album just like Wish You Were Here but oh well.
I vaguely remember listening to Wilson's Hand Cannot Erase album and finding it just OK, but this immediately impressed me. Should have started with PT back then.
