they really need to do something new then, band is quickly becoming exceptionally uninteresting

Went and listened to The Enemy Inside and was instantly bored

there are moments here and there that are pretty good, but they're few and far between
the last track is decent though

lots of good stuff but the looking glass is an inane attempt to rip off rush with horrible lyrics

I went into this review thinking, "I can't be bothered to listen to anything by these guys anymore", but now I'm mildly intrigued.
So what song should I listen to to hear Myung's groove?

Band hasn't been amazing for 14 years, sadly :/

Has it really been 14 years since Metropolis Pt. 2?

band has consistently bad album art.

The flat, uninspired album cover kinda reflects the albums content pretty well imo

Meh... its not without its charms. But overall this is pretty boring. LaBrie sounds like hes lying down ready to take a nap. Also, Mike Mangini sucks hard balls when compared to Portnoy. Old argument I know, but this album is further evidence of that.

Lifeless album. Jordan Rudess might be an extremely talented keyboardist, but he's terribly un-creative. His keyboards kills the energy in most of the songs, if not the entire album. Extremely disappointing record, but self-titleds are usually in the "Bad Albums" category of any band's catalog.
|

well that's a straight idiotic comment

The album is not easily accessible on first hearing. But it's getting better and better each time I listen to it. It's really funny how these things work out. Worst thing about the album is the poor production, way too much compression, but that's a general problem with a lot of recent albums from various bands...
