yeah the problem i have with PT's albums in the latter half of their discog is they don't do anything they try to do well at all, whether that's prog, metal, alt rock, or whatever

i have a hard time getting into anything where the lyrics are "undoubtedly the main focus" except for

hip hop. singer songwriter is a tough genre for me in that regard. a lot of the time the song just

doesn't sound good to my ears and i can't get into it. lyrics don't even get a chance

but yeah i understand when people can't get into SW's vox or lyrics. just a preference thing

It does run out of steam when it gets to the final track but that's my only huge gripe with this.

Aww Glass Arm Shattering is amazing. it's shallow and halo which are the bad ones for me, but that's only in comparison to the others

This reaches more climaxes than In Absentia, which makes it marginally better IMO

Singer/songwriter folk (using that term loosely - I kinda group some of Tull's material into that category) is one of my favourite genres and so lyrics are very important to me with regards to that kind of music and are the reason why a lot of my favourite artists became my favourites in the first place.

I listen to a lot of instrumental music (and music where the lyrics aren't anything special) though, so overall lyrics certainly aren't the be and end all for me.

Well we can all sort of agree that SW lyrics aren't great most of the time
