Nah, it's just more or less the same as past efforts and it doesn't excite me as much as a few other records this year. Listen to the difference between Of Fracture and Failure and Everything is Fire and tell me they haven't been milking that sound ever since. It's not that I dislike this. In fact, I enjoy it immensely. Everything is Fire is their pinnacle record and they will probably continue to capitalize off that sound for the rest of their career. Nothing wrong with doing that if you already have a solid foundation built and these guys certainly do. Justified my rating/ neg opinion?

I wouldn't call it "milking a sound", the band is perfecting their style. I can appreciate a band that doesn't try and reinvent the wheel every album.
Their next release should stray from the path they've worn; this was just a beautiful album though, it absolutely destroys through some good headphones.

Or, they will, as Wiz mentioned, be known as a band that made a leap in DM possibilities but failed to continually set the bar higher and higher; falling into monotony.(which is still great music though)
I hate using the word "failed" because if you have a sound as good as these guys, you can run with it for ten albums and I will still keep coming back for more. I just don't get that excited feeling I once did when I first listened to [I]Everything is Fire" and though, "Holy shit, this is different". And you're damn right about those drums improving, the guy is a fucking beast!
