I have an American Football feel to this. First release in 15 years, last of which is a classic, and other members have gone on to other side projects since that influence the sound too much and people wind up being let down. So probably a 3.5.

The hook on Contagions is way awkward. The weird tom groove with the "That's the way the guillotine slaps" part just don't go together. Those lyrics aren't catchy enough for a hook (there are awkward vocal/lyrical moments all over) and the vocal melody is undercooked. Icurably feels more cohesive as a whole but I feel like the guitarwork is too standard issue for post-hardcore in this day and age.
The production is too clean and compressed, with the instruments sound weirdly far apart. But both tracks have stuff that works well. Just nothing approaching the effortless energy and dynamism of a song like One Armed Scissor, or Ursa Minor, or anything from Casino - Relationship.

agree with you in regards to the production, didn't they say they couldn't listen to relationship because they thought it was too overproduced? I wonder what they'd have to say about the new tracks.
