I don't think it needs removed, but perhaps better moderated. Maybe set up an anonymous comment system where you have to leave a comment if you neg and if the comment doesn't actually contain critical feedback (of the constructive kind) then it's voided.
But that would probably be way more work than it's worth to be honest.

OR sputnik can harden the fuck up and start up an autocratic system where all reviews deemed "bad" by a circle of moderators are deleted, thus fully validating Sputnik's identity as a credible source

But it would make people have to actually explain why they negged, and shit like "I didn't like it" wouldn't be sufficient. Just the fact that people would have to go through some effort and time to neg would greatly reduce it, but alas, it really isn't worth it anyway.

If we deleted all bad reviews, then we'd hardly ever get new reviewers because 9 times out of 10 people suck when they first start reviewing and the site would die off.

Personally I'd prefer if noobs don't review at first, and instead read reviews to learn how to review.
