also - the fall of saigon, 24 track loop, horizontal hold, and music like escaping gas are easily as good as anything on deceit imho

"seeing these guys live would have been insane. or like I listen to the music and imagine that tot be the case"
haha i was legit wondering the other day how much of what we hear on their albums actually translates to a live setting. bit curious what they're like

the obscure brooklyn band pure adult completely ripped off "twilight furniture" for their song "casual animal" stay woke
|
| |
that drummerly decision to hit the snare with the two sticks like a semisecond away from each other instead of at the same time was never better employed than in the last few seconds of "horizontal hold"

Thought Horizontal Hold sounded strangely familiar... and holy shit Danny Brown actually sampled that song.

Horizontal Hold (on here) is amazing, obviously, but goddamn the Peel Sessions version is straight up otherworldly. Better production aside, it’s so goddamn TIGHT.

"the obscure brooklyn band pure adult completely ripped off "twilight furniture" for their song "casual animal" stay woke"
you mean the drumming, right? otherwise i don't rly hear it
|
| |
yeah just that one drum pattern and the way it's produced
the rest of the song doesnt really sound like it, but that one part makes up for that by sounding exactly like it
guy's a professed this heat fanatic too as I later found out

What’s the Armand Hammer track that uses a ‘Horizontal Hold’ sample? I forget. Shit’s fire, though.

"yeah just that one drum pattern and the way it's produced"
oh man, i just played them side by side and i can hear it plain as day. jeeez, blatant ripoff. they sound like a combination of this heat and daughters

| |
tectactoe: i should check out the peel sessions, i've never heard them. never heard any eps or comps by these guys either

Never in my life would I have expected Danny Brown of all people to be a This Heat fan lol.
|
| |
i mean, he did make an album called atrocity exhibition, not rly hard to piece together that he likes post-punk/experimental stuff lmao

Yeah but its still a strange contrast. Danny seems like a fellow open minded music fan. Atrocity Exhibition proved that he's into some weird shit haha.

^Here it is. So sick.
@Gyro: with those 5’s on DECEIT and s/t, you need to check out their Peel Session album pronto. The version of Horizontal Hold on there is probably one of my single favorite recordings of anything ever. The “new” (unreleased elsewhere) song is awesome too. Also check the track Health & Efficiency. Another amazing piece of work.
