The third studio album Crystal Castles and the first with the style of witch-house is a quality work.
Apparently, the first attempt is a really accurate expression of the idea.
To record this album, the group went to Warsaw and did not use computers, only old synthesizers. There was also a condition - we do everything with one attempt and a double, because Ethan believed that the first time is an exact expression of your idea.
If the first albums had 8-bit sounds and synth pop, then here you see a witch-house sound, gloomy and austere, wresting the soul from both the vocalist and the listener.
The album opens with the song 'Plague', which is written and created very high quality.
'Sad Eyes' melody clearly tells the sad story and its consequences, and 'Transgender' wraps in the darkness.
The album cover depicts a woman (mother) who rescues her son from tear gas due to protests in their country (Yemen)
As it turned out, this image was photographed by a certain man, the photo was later declared the winner in one contest. Learning about this, the woman thanked the one who did this, but admitted that she was not interested in anything at that moment, and that she did not even notice that someone was photographing her.
All in all, '(III)' may not be noticed, but it will be different from all Crystal Castles albums in every way.
