raising your voice is one of the most comfortable albums i've ever heard actually

its stagnant in a way that makes me uncomfortable
sort of like if xiu xiu were a post-rock band or something
good music tho

raising your voice is one of the most evocative albums i've ever heard tbh. breathtakingly beautiful sounds

Raising Your Voice is comforting but it's also extremely depressing so I kinda understand
|
| |
yeah, that album fucks me up every time i hear it. so does this one though. was just listening to frailty again and god damn

This one's a little too heavy-handed to have the same effect imo, uses lots of layers where Raising Your Voice is subtle and the latter works far better. This is still beautiful
|
| |
can you give any examples about raising your voice being subtler? not so sure i know what you mean when you say that

For example where that album uses soft vocal lines and ambient-based music (I Can Almost See You and Passing Away) and the main instrument is largely keyboard, this one will bust out the electric guitars, horns and strings and multiple vocal layers rather than just one
|
| |
ah, i see. thanks for clarifying. i suppose raising is more minimalistic and keyboard-oriented, although there are also electric guitars and other instruments. despite using less than this and being far more ambient, it has a much fuller sound. idk though, i think all of their albums are incredibly sad and powerful

i must be the only person on this site who likes hammock more than sigur ros

yeah this definitely has a fuller sound and it depends on taste which you prefer, personally I dig the minimalism of RYV because I feel like it makes the emotion more potent. these guys are far better than Sigur Ros tbh
|
| |
glad somebody else agrees with me. that is honestly a first
raising is my preferred album, but it depends on my mood too. passing away kills me to listen to but i play it almost every day

There are maybe two Sigur Ros albums I enjoy all the way through, all their others have a load of incredible and a load of bloated shite, these guys are more consistent on the whole
Passing Away is ;_;

I also like them way better than Sigur Ros.
|
| |
awesome! that's two people now. pretty sure ck would agree with us too
on sigur ros: untitled and aegis are masterworks, and takk has a lot of their best songs, but everything after that is varying degrees of good. always found hammock's music to be more evocative, it stirs all these emotions in me

yeah ( ) and the latest one whatever it was called are very solid

Agaetis > all other Sigur albums for me, but Hammock are my favorite band so there's my answer. I doubt you'd find there's such a huge number that would take Sigur Ros over these guys, they're both excellent and fairly consistent artists
