Sparks really reminds me of The Light at the Edge of the World by Darkest Hour
Album is a disappointment with the massive exception of Blue and the Grey

This is seriously one of the best pieces of heavy music I've listened to in a long time. The River, Blue and The Grey and Slow Surrender are the songs I listen to over and over again. I don't get the argumentative focus on breakdowns in this review and all the other comments, the breakdowns are the things I care about the least when I listen to this album...

Yet, the breakdowns are the reason this album sags at points.

I thought the album was pretty decent. I was a little dissapointed by some of the lyrical themes I didn't agree with, and some melodic elements didn't seem like the old Parkway we all know and love. Definitely not something I could listen from beginning to start in one sitting, but come back to now and again.

Albums a bit slow imo. Sorta the same problem deep blue had.
KWAS and Horizons are both more intense/in your face type records.

neither record has come close, kwas was really a moment in history for parkway drive and metalcore in 2005. the blue and the grey hits the spot.

finally got around to listening to the entire album, and its pretty sweet. definitely a step in the right direction after Deep Blue.

has a few good songs but thats pretty much what deepblue was anyway, need to get back to horizons quality albums
|

If this is like KWAS I'll be happy. Horizons was ok but not as good as KWAS, Deep Blue was meh.

| |
I like some of the drumming in this. Overall pretty average album though.

"Deep Blue and this are just way too over-produced and boring."
What are you talking about? Horizons was a lot more produced sounding than Deep Blue or this.

I'll give this a listen but I'm sure it will suck.

Horizons was so triggered and overproduced it was hard to listen to, especially on tracks like Boneyards. Adam D was a great producer back in the day but everything he's done since ~2007 is so homogenous.

KWAS had some great songs (Gimme A D, Smoke Em, Hard to Speak) and some horridly horridly bad ones (Guns for Show, Picture Perfect).

Those two songs you mentioned aren't even bad.
