Finally getting round to listening to this. Should be interesting as I haven't listened to Wintersun in about 3 years.

Most lyrics of the first album were actually written when Jari was a teenager. The earliest demo of Sadness & Hate is from 96 iirc.



I do wish that Jari had actually asked an educated native English speaker, or even a Finn who has studied English in university (such as me) to proof-read his lyrics before releasing them. Time I has a couple of embarrassing mistakes in the booklet like:





"Fate will find it´s way" - should be its, obviously

"Into the shadows they hide" - correct me, if I'm wrong, but you can't "hide INTO something" can you? Feels weird to me.



Also, there are quite a few missing articles and the use of them is very inconsistent. i.e. "my dreams wither in fragments of time" vs. "The world was shattered in the fragments of time".

or "Frozen lake, the dancing spirits" - why did 'dancing spirits' get an article, but 'frozen lake' didn't??
