Don't listen to it in the dark on your own; the title track is seriously creepy! Like most people say, this is a grower. Great review, too.

'Storm corrosion' both surprises and enlightens me, although the album never really excites the listener with anything louder than the ambience and melodies on offer here. It seems that this could be a very divisive collaboration, because fans of Opeth will be seeking something louder or more extreme, and fans of Porcupine tree (or any other steven wilson project for that matter) will be expecting something that is purely on his part. That said, each and every song is extremely well written, with both musicians displaying their talent in every place they can. Another highlight is that both vocalists, although remaining very quiet, are supremely good. The crooning and singing throughout every song (besides the instrumental 'Lock Howl' works very well. However, and I have always gone back to this point, 'Storm corrosion' is far from the best thing either musician has come up with, and in my opinion, even in the field of Progressive and Psychadelic folk rock, i have heard more interesting music before. One of the strangest albums of 2012, but not necessarily the best.

Not everyone is as evolved as you Base

For instance, most of us still only have 5 toes on each foot

Interesting reading some of the comments here - loved the crap about Akerfeldts voice being shot, total rubbish - and having seen them multiple times in recent month's can only say its actually getting better! Wasn't sure about the album at first but a real grower -where to from here, though?

I've liked it on my first two listens, but I don't think its nearly as good as Grace for Drowning (which I absolutely loved). I generally like laid back, atmospheric music, but I feel like this could have used just a bit more dynamic contrast and tempo variation to keep the mellow bits feeling as fresh and interesting as they should.
