This album (to my ears) has aged so well (it's not that old I know), just gets better and better over time.
Solitary one is definitely one of my all time fave PL songs, Fear of impending Hell and the title track not far behind.

At times, this album rivals the band's classics.

Guilty of overlooking this album for the longest time. It was released at a point in time where I was moving quite far away from metal as Paradise Lost were going further and further back into it with each release. Faith Divides Us... maintained my interest but this one just slipped under the radar and I've not really gone back to it properly until today.
I can see why I might not have grabbed me back in 2012 - the review highlights a lack of immediacy which I agree with - their melodic tendencies really are the bits that used to grab my attention and there's definitely less of those here, or presented in a much heavier, grittier way.
This is the real deal though - some absolutely superb tracks on here and the album comes storming out of the gates with three tracks (Solitary One, Crucify, Fear of Impending Hell) that are right up there with some of their best.
