I really like the Last Vigil. Brings in some calmness along with Bones to an album which is mostly pretty heavy.

Yeah this album has lot of atmospheric parts. Also Haake slays hard in this album!

I agree, and I think that Demiurge and The Last Vigil go really well with each other to finish off the album

An enjoyable release from Meshuggah, full of impressive riffing, and complex rhythms. Jens Kidman has some monotonous vocal parts, sometimes he fits in quite nicely & other times he ruins the atmosphere.

I find the instrumentals far more engaging than the vocal parts. Kidman rarely offers anything different throughout the album, he is far from spectacular.

5/10

@ CaptainDooRight. Me too Captain! But i dont think it's a drum driven album. But some of Haake's parts definetely need repeated listenings to fully grasp them.

his voice does what it needs to for this sort of music. I agree he's not the most dynamic vocalist but his vox serve their purpose perfectly. Throwing in any softs (lol Jens would never do that) or anyhting other than a growl would just sound retarded on this

when I first heard the samples I thought it sounded strained, but that could be I was hearning more of them since they're pretty much the loudest in the mix, I'm amazed he hasn't blown out his voice
