"If anyone heard that song and was like 'Ugh. Autotune,' I would either punch them or start crying." - Jack

Some things have grown on me a tiny bit. I don't think songs like 'It Gets Better' or 'Stars' ever will though (BLEH!). However, I think I'm starting to like how the vocoder/whatever was placed in Some Nights (song). Carry On, I like a lot.
Did any of you ever listen to or watch the We Are Young (live) videos on Youtube (or hear it live, in person), before the studio single was released? I was *somewhat* disappointed with how 'We Are Young' had resulted in its studio setting. The reason is because I've heard it quite a few times, during live performances and it sounded so much more awesome, especially during the chorus. There seemed to be lots of epic drive when they played it live and I can't quite find the same attitude in the studio version; it would have been nice. I don't dislike the song, I was just expecting...something a bit more, I guess, after hearing it live.

"Sputnikmusic staff reviewer Adam Knott gave the album a 4/5 and wrote, "The energy and personality which flood out of every melody give this album its own stamp of authority. It tips over into excess at rare moments, but even as you can hear those moments happening, they provoke grins inside and out.""

It's slipping on me a little. Maybe because I'm listening to it too much, I can't tell. XD

Sort of annoying that Some Nights will be the more popular album when I really think Aim & Ignite deserves to be.

Why Am I The One and All Alright rule so hard. And yeah, Aim and Ignite is a little better.
|
| |
'Why Am I The One' sounds like it could've been on Aim & Ignite. The ending is lush too.
I really hope they find some way of better blending their new and old sounds for the next record. Tracks like 'All Alone' and 'One Foot' get old incredibly fast. No need for that loop.

I don't like the auto-tune, vocoder, whatever it may be. It really destroys some songs. It'd be fine if they used it less frequently, but damn. On songs like Stars, they abuse it.
|
| |
I actually think it works best on 'Stars' but in 'One Foot' and 'It Gets Better' it sort of cripples the power of those songs.
Also, I hope they don't use a drum machine next time. =/

I think the vocoder sounds good for the most part. I really like it in Some Nights actually.

In "It Get's Better," he also is using a talk box, I think. At least, it sounds like what my talk box sounds like. I can definitely see the influence from My Dark Twisted Fantasy in moments like that.

I gave my mom Aim And Ignite.
She loved it.
I should probably give her this, too.

such a weird vibe in this.
"It Gets Better" annoys me
"Why Am I The One" has some weird 90's karaoke thing going on
and most of the hip-hop soaked parts make me cringe
still some good parts though
