"best album they've had since like 81"
really, and its only a 3.5 to you?
well, i guess since gene simmons and paul stanley ain't in the band!
you mean to tell me this is BETTER then diver down and only rates a 3.5? i haven't even heard it yet and know you crazy!

lol
Diver Down is one of thier weakest albums of the Roth era IMO. Still good though.

You should listen to it, it's great.

i think its better then "good." imo, of course. DD saved the band from certain demise. the first two
albums were sick (great) as the songs for the most part were all written for the first album. a
wealth of good material
but...Women And Children First? seriously? dude...Fools, Take Your Whiskey Home, the god awful
Everybody Wants Some, the throw aways Tora, Tora and Loss Of Control, and that album stinks on ice!
no focus, no passion, The Cradle seldom rocked!
:p
Fair Warning was the sound of a dying band. One Foot Out The Door? more like one foot in the grave!
then comes Diver Down. smart freshening up covers like they did as they had much success doing the
same before. so when in doubt just make half the album updated covers, VH style. throw in originals
like the blazing Hang 'em High, melodic Little Guitars, the full onslaught of The Full Bug, and the
tenderness of things like Footsteps....and Diver Down is one of the best comeback albums the band
could have hoped for
it was a return to the colorful fun, party band. feel like dancing? there it is! Van Halen forgot
about that for two albums and became no fun. with Diver Down they got the fun back and hit the
ground running on there way to 1984. which was not their best, but still good and their biggest of
the DLR years
of the sammy years? sammy lol!

Can't say I agree with all that... Especially about 'Fair Warning', which I think was under-rated, if anything.

Excellent stuff, I seriously did not see this one coming since most older bands that try to make music tend to suck.

Anyone seen them live lately? Have they even played live lately?

@Davey
"Van Halen have abruptly postponed all tour dates after their June 26th show in New Orleans with no explanation.
The band yanked more than 30 long-planned dates, including shows in Milwaukee, Detroit, Cleveland, Salt Lake City and El Paso. Local promoters United Concerts and AEG issued statements regarding some postponed shows to local media, including the Salt Lake Tribune and Las Cruces Sun-News, but no details have been offered yet about rescheduled dates or refunds.
Nearly all of the tour is promoted by Live Nation, whose reps wouldn't comment. The band's rep also had no comment. A source with knowledge of the tour tells Rolling Stone that Van Halen's members "hate each other." Adds the source, "The band is arguing like mad. They are fighting."
Rolling Stone, May 17.
Shame...I really wanted to see these guys live this year.
