Colton The Dreaming is the definition of a grower
Some weirder albums are going to be like that, where they sound random at first until your ears adjust to it

i remember genuinely hating t/t a lot the first few times i heard it. couldnt imagine loving it now, much less having the album in my top 5 of all time

“Surf’s Up is a masterpiece“
Indeed. It will never not crack me up that these guys didn’t actually know how to surf.

Been getting into the good stuff by this band lately
They're so much more than the summer pop boy band that I always thought they were
This is one of the best albums I've ever heard honestly

nice. is Pet Sounds new to you too?

The whole album is, yes. I'd heard almost all the songs separately and scattered throughout my life both on purpose and by accident, but this was my first time hearing both this and Pet Sounds in their entirety. Are any other albums of theirs even on a similar plane? If so I'll check it out since I'm currently obsessed.

nothing on a similar plane to that no, but that's an almost impossibly high bar. Today! is their best pre-Pet Sounds album for sure, and the three albums after Pet Sounds are also good. Smiley Smile was supposed to be this album, but ended up as something much weirder because of Brian Wilson's mental state at the time. Surf's Up is also a great album, and I think the last three songs on their newest album are really good and overlooked

That's good to know. I'll probably take my time enjoying these two then. Once I've fully absorbed them I'll move on to the three that followed Pet Sounds.
