So there is absolutely no metal in here whatsoever? How the fuck could opeth completely ditch their roots? They weren't thinking about their fans when they made this. That's for sure.
What are you talking about? Everything about this album sounds like Opeth. It's not because they stripped away the heavy riffs and harsh vocals that their core sound is gone... Quite on the contrary, because this album is built up straight from the Opeth's heart for prog it might just be their most 'Opeth-like' release to date.

I'm pretty sure people who got into opeth and became fans was because they enjoyed hearing metal combined with progressive pieces of music. They wanted to hear metal with a different spin. I'm sure they didn't say, man i hope these guys ditch the metal and just create progressive rock.

This album absolutely rules. What a TERRIBLE and closed minded review. One of my favourites in terms of what the rhythm section accomplish on this record.
