Yeah. Agreed. Most of this is superb, don't get the hate this gets.
An Enemy Led The Tempest is one of my fave Cradle actually.

Finally redid my rating for this album. I don’t know why but it just clicked for me after 15 years of calling it one of the weakest CoF albums.
|
| |
Hopefully this band will one day click with me in general. I like the music and I dig Dani's lows, but I just can't stand his highs for some reason. I don't have an issue with other bm vocalists though.
The only song I listen to by these guys is Nymphetamine t/t because it has Liv Kristine and she's always a pleasure to hear. But I might be due to check this/other albums out again in the near feature.

How do you feel about his vox on the first few albums? I feel like they are so different on everything up until Midian and then he changed up the style to what most people are familiar with. He does have amazing lows though, I find myself wishing he would use them more frequently.
|
| |
I actually don't think I've heard them lol some of the titles sound familiar but I think I've just seen/heard the names tossed around. Pretty sure I've only heard Midian, this, and Nymphetamine.
Never even thought to check other albums since I figured vox would be about the same, but I'm def gonna give those a try now.

If you don't like the highs I don't see why the early albums would sway you. You're better off just checking out their songs with prominent female vocals and ease in that way.

DEFINITELY look into:
The Principle of Evil Made Flesh
V Empire
Dusk and Her Embrace/Dusk and Her Embrace: The Original Sin (two versions of the same album, both recorded with different line-ups and with a few differences between each other. Dani on The Original Sin has vocals more in line with typical BM fare)
Cruelty and the Beast
You can't go wrong with these, and Dani's vocals are, in my opinion far less grating.
|
| |
I'll give those a go for sure, thanks. "Grating" is definitely the word I'd use for his vox on this and the other stuff I've heard lol. I normally love bm shrieks but Dani's are like ear-piercing for me.
@artiswar Eh, I'm cool with female vox and all but I'm not particularly looking for them. Liv Kristine is an exception though, I'll give pretty much anything a chance if she's singing. But yeah if Dani's vox are closer to normal bm vox on those records I shouldn't have a problem with them. I guess we shall see, gonna jam The Original Sin here in a bit.

Hex make sure you report back. Pls don’t disappoint me.

It's not like I always say I'm gonna jam something then forget and disappear for a few weeks or anything...
Lmao. I will post up after I jam, I'm downloading disocg now.

Dusk and Her Embrace is surprisingly good. Sick riffs all over the place and I'm really digging some of these melodies. The Symphonic parts are cool too. The music is definitely very theatrical? sounding though, especially with all the female/spoken word parts. I don't mind it, I guess that's to be expected with CoF from what I've heard before.
Vox are fine. Actually jamming the original now, not minding the vox here either but I def prefer The Original Sin.
